Life Cycle Assessment of Concentrate Feed Supply System for Japanese Domestic Livestock Industry
نویسندگان
چکیده
The objectives of this presentation are to evaluate and compare the environmental burdens of the two different concentrate feed supply systems to Japanese domestic livestock industry. Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) method is used on the two systems such as the conventional system depending on US-imported corn and the proposed new system. Japanese domestic livestock industry could reduce 78,462 tons of CO2-equivalents as greenhouse gas by adopting the new concentrate feed supply system proposed with planting barley in domestic land left fallow. The proposed new system indicated a possibility of emissions trading with CO2-equivalents, in case that Japanese government would launch emissions trading in accordance with Kyoto Protocol in the future.
